I'm Will Binette. A Software Engineer, Entrepreneur, and Harm Reduction Advocate.
I’ve always been passionate about building things and solving puzzles. At the age of 15, I taught myself to code and fell in love with it. My journey didn’t start in tech, though. Initially, I attended New York University to study Neuroscience with the aim of becoming a doctor. However, I soon realized that wasn’t the path for me.
Pivoting to Emergency Medical Services and Harm Reduction, I sought to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. During this time, I co-founded the largest harm reduction non-profit in New Mexico, learning the immense power of community and the impact of dedicated service.
Throughout my medical career, I continued to harness my coding skills to benefit the clinics and non-profits I worked with. I developed websites and built numerous internal tools to streamline their operations. Eventually, this led me to pursue a full-time career in software engineering. As a founding engineer at a New York start-up, I deepened my technical expertise while maintaining my commitment to social impact.
Driven by a desire to merge my technical skills with my passion for harm reduction and medical services, I launched a company focused on developing software to enhance workflows in these fields from the ground up. Today, I remain deeply involved with my non-profit, Oleum Research, while also working as a software consultant and contractor.
I’m always on the lookout for new opportunities to make a difference and take on impactful projects. If you’re interested in collaborating, feel free to reach out to me at will@willbinette.dev.
